Due to the rapidly increasing corrosion process of metals by MIC (Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion) at the port of Den Helder, the quay walls at the Port need to be replaced. The deterioration of the pile sheets no longer guarantees a safe structure.
The objective - Calculate and design a new steel and concrete structure that functions as a quay wall and is able to protect steel against the MIC.
